Vital Distribution Solutions is a warehousing and transport logistics provider operating across Southern Africa, from our head office in Jet Park, Boksburg.
Our history
Established in 1999, Vital has grown into a leading provider of transport and warehousing logistics services across Southern Africa. Our goal is to deliver cost-effective and reliable solutions, so our clients can focus on their core businesses.
With a strong commitment to transparency, discipline and integrity, we operate from several facilities in South Africa and specialise in customised logistics and contracted management solutions, including primary and secondary distribution, line haul and transhipment services. Full truck loads, long-distance, customer direct deliveries, shuttle services and general deliveries are all part of what we do for large FMCG clients on a national basis.
The Vital management team has more than 50 years of experience in the industry. Most of our senior management have been with Vital since it was established, and brought extensive industry experience with them.
The road so far
Milestones from more than 25 years of distribution.
- 1999
Founders Mark Uren, Piet Venter and Melanie Hudson start Vital with vision and a lot of tenacity, taking over the existing Fleetrent portfolio.
- 2005
Dr Zolile Maqetuka and the Zikhuliseni Rhafu Development Trust acquire 25.2% of the shares.
- 2008
Excellerate Holdings acquires 37.4% of the shares from the Venter Family Trust.
- 2009
Ten years of distribution, with a growing fleet of over 300 vehicles.
- 2018
Vital enters the e-commerce distribution market.
- 2020
A new journey starts with business intelligence implemented across the business.
- 2024
25 years of distribution, celebrated with a fleet of over 650 vehicles.
